Arrest of an African Worker Who Stole From a Home He Was Trusted With
In recent times, there has been a noticeable increase in the presence of foreign domestic workers inside Libyan households—both male and female—employed for household assistance such as cleaning, organizing, laundry, child care, as well as home security and garden maintenance.
Within this context, the Internal Security Service highlights a case intended to raise public awareness, reminding citizens of the importance of protecting social and family security, instilling noble Islamic values in their children, and remaining alert to potential threats that may arise under the guise of social necessities or modern lifestyle demands.
The presence of such individuals inside homes without proper oversight may lead to serious offences, including theft, witchcraft and sorcery, covert filming for blackmail, and other criminal behaviors. In addition, there are possible negative influences on children’s social behavior or their moral and religious values. We believe that some families have faced such incidents but refrained from reporting them due to social considerations or fear of consequences.
Following a report submitted to the service, authorities arrested an individual identified as (A.S.K), a Malian national, for stealing from the home of a Libyan citizen (S.A.) who had trusted him, employed him for several years, and entrusted him with full responsibility inside his household. Evidence also indicated his involvement in practices of witchcraft and sorcery with others.
Legal measures were taken against the suspect, and he has been referred to the competent authorities for further investigation.
